In the bleak mid winter we can turn to these little brown bottles of divine oil to uplift the blues, support our health and add a little sensory sparkle to darker days. Here are my top 10 hacks to lift the winter blues....
- Diffuse citrus oils like Lemon, Grapefruit, Lime & Wild Orange. A drop or two of each oil will instantly fill your room with liquid sunshine. Add 1 drop of Citrus Bliss to your winter scarf and breathe the scent in as you walk the cold streets.
- Place a drop of the Air blend on your pillow to decongest during the snuffly season. Add a couple of drops of any decongesting oil to your pockets tissues. Simply open the packet and add in a couple of drops of Air, Peppermint or Eucalyptus... reseal and then you have a lovely aromatic tissue to use when the need arises.
- When a fever strikes run a warm bath, add 2 drops of frankincense and eucalyptus to your epsom salts. Grounding and decongesting. Soak for 20 minutes and let the body begin to restore and replenish.
- Bring about some sparkle to your dishes by adding 5 drops of lemon or lime oil to your rinse dispenser. Unpacking the dishwasher never smelt so good and refreshing.
- Starting to feel a niggle at the back of your throat. Take 1 tbsp of manuka honey and add 1 drop of the OnGuard blend and consume. It will sooth the throat immediately.
- Add some extra tlc to your cuticles and massage a little meleleuca oil diluted with a carrier oil such as fractionated coconut oil or sweet almond oil. Your nails will look and feel better in a couple of days. Dry hands? Add a couple of drops of frankincense to your hand cream. The scent is calming and the oil oh so nourishing for the skin.
- Settle your little ones at night by making a bedtime spritz. Simply take a small glass bottle with a spritz top. Fill with water and add 5-10 drops of your favourite calming oils: Lavender + Wild Orange, Lavender + Frankincense, Cedarwood + Eucalyptus, Frankincense + Lemon.
- Make a rollerball by adding fractionated coconut oil to a 5ml or 10ml glass rollerball. Add 5 drops of lavender oil and then roll the ball on your little ones spine and feet. Really lovely to do just before a bedtime story to calm and sooth before sleep.
- Keep your kitchen fresh by wiping down the surfaces with white vinegar, water and a couple of drops of meleleuca, peppermint or and / or lemon.
- Hair drying out with all the central heating? Add a few drops of rosemary to your shampoo and conditioner routine.... your luscious locks will be most grateful. x
